This morning I head my mom's sweet voice singing lighly as she was folding laudry. I passed by and noticed she had one ear phone in and was singing to the music. I kept hearing her sing the words "more than I can handle." I knew that she must have been singing this song because it matched the inner emotions she is feeling right now. What was interesting though is that she had some joy and hope in her voice, as though the words were actually encouraging her. I found the song tonight. Its called "World on Fire" by Sarah McLachlan. My mom's world is figuratively on fire right now and this song served as her therapy today. Therefore, it serves as my therapy because if I know that she is doing okay, I am okay too.
World on Fire
Hearts are worn in these dark ages
You're not alone in this story's pages
Night has fallen amongst the living and the dying
And I try to hold it in, yeah I try to hold it in
[Chorus]
The world's on fire and
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water(I try to pull my ship)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle (Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able
I watch the heavens and I find a calling
Something I can do to change this moment
Stay close to me while the sky is falling
Don't wanna be left alone, don't wanna be alone
[Chorus]
The world's on fire and
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water(I try to pull my ship)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle (Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able
Hearts break, hearts mend
Love still hurts
Visions clash, planes crash
Still there's talk of Saving souls, still the cold
Is closing in on us
We part the veil on our killer sun
Stray from the straight line on this short run
The more we take, the less we become
A fortune of one that means less for some
[Chorus X2]
The world's on fire and
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water(I try to pull my ship)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle (Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able
